About David Beckett, Realtor, CBR

My Client-First Philosophy

I arrived in Vermont in 1960 and began my Real Estate career in 1989.                                                                                  I adore Vermont and helping people explore it.

Real Estate has always been a PEOPLE business to me. As it's become more of a technical online business in recent years, I strive for professionalism and listen carefully. I practice The Platinum Rule, treating people as THEY wish to be treated. That means using text messages and electronic forms, as well as just the phone and email or a personal visit, whichever is most comfortable for clients.

One of my first transactions by chance involved a broker who ended up representing her sister as a CLIENT, which was unusual back then. After that I took a course leading to a CBR designation, studying the representation of buyers as CLIENTS in depth. This meant that when the State of Vermont adopted new rules of agency in 1995 (who represents who and so on) to give consumers better options, I was several years into this new way of doing business: being a Buyer's Agent. I helped pioneer Buyer Representation in Vermont. Also - I've never charged a buyer a fee or commission of any kind.

That said, in my experience as a Vermont real estate professional, I've also found that providing the very best service is essentially about putting my clients first. This means keeping myself accessible, being a good listener as well as a good communicator, and responding quickly to your needs.

This "client first" philosophy has always been my approach and it requires me to continually improve my skills and ways of doing business. In addition, I've found that the latest technologies are enabling me to do everything I've always done, only much more quickly and efficiently. They've also helped me to extend the range of services I provide to my clients.
